About Carol Mellema
“Sometimes I arrive just when God’s ready to have someone click the shutter.” ~Ansel Adams
In my dreams, I travel the world and wake up in new and exciting places each day, and me and my camera arrive for the most perfect sunrise just in time to take the most breathtaking photograph. In my reality, my photography is my career, and my career is my life. But I couldn’t ask for a better career, or a better life, and I have learned to be grateful for every moment that I am able to capture with my camera.
I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years now, but I have had a camera in my hand for over 30 years. On any given day you may find me shooting stock photos for Shutterstock, IStock and 123RF, doing assignments for Demand Media Studios, out chasing birds in my own backyard, or travelling in my RV with my husband off to our next destination, with my camera by my side. I have been a portrait photographer for 10 years, but I find myself setting portrait photography aside more and more, and instead chasing the nature photograph. Our RV has taken us to many wonderful places including Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Colorado, Utah, Washington, Oregon, California, Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, and many other wonderful places. On our list still is Alaska – as soon as we get the youngest child through high school in two more years. We have been blessed to have seen some magical places and to have met some amazing people along the way, and we can’t wait to continue the journey for many years to come. I hope you enjoy my photographs as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
